Wow...but, I'm back~

My last post is almost a year and a half old...yikes~

Lots to report, but first and foremost...I'm Back! Hopefully, I'll be up and running here consistently soon. It'll take a few days to update, but I'm on it!

I'm posting a random picture of a recent stamp club card, just to show you that I have been stampin'!!!!!

Star Wars!! Woohoo!

Hubby and I went to see the Star Wars in Concert tour last night. It was awesome! Anthony Daniels, C3PO himself, narrated while clips of the movies were shown on a huge screen behind the orchestra. There were also actors dressed as stormtroopers, Vader, Boba Fett and the like roaming around the venue...you could take pictures with them! If you are at all a Star Wars fan or love a great philarmonic orchestra, I highly recommend!

Leonard isn't a huge Star Wars geek like I am, but he did enjoy the music. I am thankful he felt well enough to go...but, he has decided to forego our trip to New Orleans. We originally intended to leave this morning and have the weekend together, then while I went to my business meetings he would explore. Now, I'm holding off a couple of days before leaving...and will miss him terribly while I'm there. We were so looking forward to it!

I will be using the additional time to work on my swaps for Stampin' Up!'s convention tho...and I need it! I didn't sign up for a ton, but enough that I should have already been seriously working on completing them!

The cards in the picture below were both cased...very close cases in fact! That's what's great about this hobby, people love to share what they create. As a Stampin' Up! demo, I have access to Stampin' Connection, a forum for demos only...it has a great gallery where if you're totally suffering a crafters block you can find some beautiful cards to recreate. That's what I did here for my May card class. I don't recall who posted these...at the time, I just left them up on my screen and created away as I was in a time crunch! I love the colors of the first one, and all that layering is fun. The simplicity of the second one is really great while creating - I think - a stunning card.

A lot can happen in 24 hours!!!

I'll start with showing another card I'd made for stamp club!

This card is super simple! The only stamping was the sentiment from Heard from the Heart. The rest is all accomplished by using the Big Shot. I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit, and the Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions folder. The pic's not that great, but I used the Impressions folder on the Bermuda Bay piece that is layered behind the sentiment. I am showing the debossed side there vs the embossed side as shown on the Whisper White panel.

The other news, the reason behind the title of this post is...late Monday night I had to take my hubby to the ER. He had been not feeling that great all day, and had even left work early to come home and go to bed. Well, after lying down a bit...he just seemed to get a little worse and a little worse. Eventually he was extremely nauseous, sweating profusely with the shivers. Turns out it was his appendix! Luckily, it wasn't to the point that it had ruptured or even had holes so the Dr was able to take it out laparoscopically. Hubby came home late Tuesday night and is doing okay...but feeling pretty crappy still. Hopefully by tomorrow night he will be feeling better and up to a trip we have planned!!! We'll see. I myself went without sleep for more than 40 hours, and slept like the dead once I got him home and in bed himself.

Well...that was my last crazy couple of days! Hope yours were better~

Blog Hop - Only Ovals

Hi!! And welcome to my stop on the hop! :) Hope you're having fun on this parade of Last Chance Stamp Sets brought to you by Stampin' Addicts!!

EDIT: The hop is officially over, so I've removed the links embedded in my post...but, I've added a list at the bottom of this post with the complete list in case you missed the actual 'hop'!

The set I chose to highlight is the Only Ovals set, as I love sets that coordinate with Stampin' Up!'s selection of punches. This set works wonderfully with the large oval punch. All the punches in the upcoming catalog will be available in the new punch design introduced in the Summer mini. If you are partial to the current design, you'll need to order your punches by the end of the month.

My first project is a Bar-b-Que invite, I also used some images from the retiring Voila to Go set, and the also retiring Introducing set. I created a 'pocket' where the details of the BBQ are..
 I used retiring colors (only available while supplies last) Ruby Red and Brilliant Blue cardstock and inks. I also used the retiring Star punch, and the staying Large Star punch. I used the Color Spritzer Tool on the Whisper White panel and invite.

My next project is a simple wedding/shower card. I used the retiring Gold Encore ink pad, and Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on a floral stamp from the retiring Embrace Life set for the background. I also heat embossed the 'You tied the Knot' oval stamp and layered it on a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock - punched out with the Round Tab punch. Shimmery White cardstock used through out, with the Whisper White Organza ribbon to finish it off.

 

My last project to show you is actually two 3D items. Both of these are made with retiring Sizzix Dies. First I used the Bag w/Scallops die for a quick Thank You gift idea, then I used the Petal Card die to create a cute little basket. While I am sad that as a demonstrator I won't be able to use these dies at workshop/clubs/classes...these puppies aren't going anywhere. I will use them constantly for personal projects, they are just the best for gifting cute treats!!!

For the Bag w/Scallops, I used Taken with Teal/Cameo Coral/Creamy Caramel (all retiring/available while supplies last). I punched out the Scallop Circle piece to layer my oval on...I also used Paper Snips on a second oval to get the Thanks part popped up. I used my Scallop Edge punch also, and used the White Signa Gel pen to put dots on all the scallops. The ribbon is actually Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain that I dyed Cameo Coral by swiping it on my ink pad! You use a sponge (or your finger) to hold the ribbon on top of the ink pad and pull it through..let it dry a bit, and you have matching ribbon!

The Petal Die basket uses 4 die cuts, you slice off one of the sides (which I then used 2 of for the layer behind my oval!), then adhere them to each other to form the open top box. I used Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango, both retiring In Colors. I use a strip of Razzleberry DSP around the box, and I attached the Crushed Curry ribbon with jumbo white brads.
